List of equipment

  • Macuscope: Measures macula pigment. Low amount higher risk for macular degeneration and determine how well vitamin supplementation will work.
  • GDX field analyzer: Measures the amount of nerve fiber compared to age match normal loss of nerve fiber can be a sign of early glaucoma.
  • OCT (ocular coherence tomography): Ultrasound testing of the optic nerve, macula and anterior portion of the eye  can determine earlier macular degeneration and diagnosis some diseases without flouroscein angiography (dye test).
  • Corneal topography: Scan of the cornea surface to determine shape  can determine a disease process or design totally custom contact lenses.
  • Visual field testing: Subjective test of a patients peripheral vision.
  • Automatic refraction system: Most advanced determination of a patients prescription can be done more quickly and more accurately.
  • Z-vue abberrometer: Measure aberrations or imperfections of the eyes visual system and be able to prescribe lenses that are a fingerprint of the eye. How we see is not only determined by RX which is a low order aberration but how smooth the surfaces of the eye that light has to travel through any of these can scatter the image and effect quality of vision.
  • Digital camera: Taking retinal photos to moniter eye diseases or serve as a baseline for future comparison.


Positions in the office

  • Frame stylist: Takes Dr Rx and determine the best frame for RX , face shape coloring and style preference of the patient.
  • Optician: Repairs and manufactures lenses.
  • Director of Patient Education: Gathers data for the doctor regarding patient’s eyes and educates patient about glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts.
